On Thursday 19th November you have the opportunity to learn how to contribute to the Open Street Map of North Solihull.
There are 2 sessions, attend for both or drop in for one.
10.00 am to 12.00 meet at Chelmsley Wood library Stephenson Drive B37 5TA
12.30 to 14.30 meet at Chelmsley Wood library
In the morning session we will walk the area collecting data to add to the map. GPS devices are provided. You can also mark features on printed Walking Maps which can be transferred to the digital map. In the afternoon session, depending on availability of public internet access, more mapping or learn how to upload and edit Open Street Map.
No special skills or technical knowledge are required. Please bring a pen and notepad.
Optional accessories: laptop, high visibility jacket.
There will be a further, all day mapping event with volunteers from Open Street Map on Saturday 28th November.
[Update: the mapping party is deferred. We have not been able to find a suitable venue with public WiFi. The good news is that Chelmsley Wood public library, which is closed from 28th November, re-opens on 14th December in the new shopping centre. Open Street Map will be updated with this information. In preparation for the mapping party we are doing some local mapping events.]
So that we have an idea of how to make the best use of the day, please confirm which sessions you would like to join to:
